The name reflects our belief in the power of different perspectives. “Neurodivergent” represents the idea that diverse ways of thinking, experiencing, and processing the world are strengths, not limitations. We believe that leadership is not about fitting into a mould—it’s about embracing unique experiences, challenges, and insights to create powerful, compassionate leaders.
Founded by Matt Brittain in 2021, Neurodivergent Ltd. draws on deep expertise in trauma-informed leadership, emotional intelligence, and mental health advocacy.
Our approach is simple: we focus on the human aspect of leadership. Through personalised coaching, workshops, and consultancy, we teach leaders how to cultivate empathy, address trauma, and enhance their emotional intelligence. We believe that when leaders lead with compassion and self-awareness, they not only improve team performance but also create cultures of trust and safety.

I’ve encountered significant mental health challenges, including a period of homelessness, that fundamentally shaped my life and work. From these experiences, I uncovered a profound resilience and self-awareness that now underpin my approach to leadership and mental health advocacy. As a Mental Health Advocate and Consultant, I help individuals and organisations transform adversity into a source of strength and leadership.
As the founder of Neurodivergent Ltd., I focus on Mastering Leadership Through Lived Experience. My journey has granted me deep insights into the critical elements that define exceptional leadership: empathy, resilience, and strategic influence. I work with leaders to unlock their potential by fostering trust, building influence through connection, and honing the ability to perceive and respond to challenges with precision. Over the past two decades, I have developed expertise across mental health, service design, international development, and leadership, working across government, non-profit, and volunteer sectors.
My approach is based on the principle that authentic leadership, rooted in real-world experience, is the key to building thriving teams and organisations. I combine lived experience with professional expertise to deliver trauma-informed leadership strategies that transform organisational culture. I guide leaders to develop self-awareness, cultivate respect through compassion, and lead with integrity while strategically shaping environments that foster trust and innovation. Through tailored coaching, workshops, and consulting, I empower leaders and teams to break free from limitations and achieve their full potential.
Holding a Master’s in Health Psychology from the University of Auckland, I apply evidence-based strategies alongside personal insights to address complex leadership challenges. I help leaders harness emotional intelligence, navigate uncertainty, and thrive in today’s complex environments. Leadership is both an art and a science, and those who can subtly cultivate influence through emotional intelligence and strategic timing are the ones who achieve lasting impact.
